A2 by The Blonde Collective pays homage to a city within its home state of Michigan: Ann Arbor. I’m digging the creative-type-treatment-as-city concept. Buy it for $25. Tags:ann arbor, letter, michigan, number, the blonde collective. Categories:local, promotional, typography Anatomy of the Letter A

The Anatomy of the Letter A T-shirt is another terrific typophile-targeted tee…truly! Available for $19.99 from Von Roxy. Tags:letter, von roxy. Categories:typography Just b.

The Just b T-shirt by The Blonde Collective would make a nice addition to any typophile’s wardrobe (…especially mine). Available for $30. Tags:letter, the blonde collective. Categories:promotional, typography A (Reversible)

ALRIGHTOK recently joined Storenvy and, in honor of the move, has dropped all tee prices to $10. The sale covers the previously featured Budget and Truckin’ T-shirts, of course…as well as this awesome A (Reversible) T-shirt — all great purchases even at full price. The letter “A” on this shirt is formed by the word “OK” printed over and over again in a variety of typefaces. It’s excellent branding that was beautifully executed…much like AOK’s Truckin’ tee. Additionally, it’s reversible! It has the same print on both sides but in different colors. Tags:alrightok, aok, letter, reversible. Categories:promotional, typography Kerning Ain’t Easy

Kerning Ain’t Easy is a T-shirt directed toward type nerds and lovers alike. If you already know what kerning is, then there’s a good chance you’re one of the two. Kerning, as explained on the product page, is manipulating and adjusting the area between individual letters in a font. It is often overlooked and under-appreciated. The slogan printed on this tee by Typefaced is a variation of the slogan, “Pimpin’ ain’t easy,” made famous by rappers and (I would assume) pimps. I’m not embarrassed to say that I like this version a lot better. I also thoroughly appreciate the way the type has been treated. If you’re a designer, typographer, or just someone who recognizes the work and effort that goes into designing type or designing with type — then this Kerning Ain’t Easy T-shirt might just be for you. Pencil P for Public School is another solid tee from Austin-based creative collective: PUBLIC SCHOOL. I love the graphic letter on this thing. The title of T-shirt marries the image to the collective, reinforcing its brand. It’s also a learning mechanism which ties into the idea of schooling. That’s brilliant branding that goes beyond visual design. As I’ve stated in a previous post, I love PS’s aesthetic. This tee made me realize that I love their way of thinking [and seeing], as well. They also have some great product shots! Tags:letter, pencil, public school. Categories:graphic, illustration, promotional, typography Truckin’

Truckin’ is, of course, a reference to Robert Crumb’s “Keep On Truckin’” and mimics its distinct style down to a T…or should I say “A”? Instead of a cartoon man, we’re given the capital letter “A”…truckin’ along in some shell-toe sneakers (which are much more comfortable, I’m sure, than the dress shoes in the original). This tee is brought to us by ALRIGHTOK — hence the choice of letter to be used in the illustration. I love that the “A” is making the AOK gesture with its hand, reinforcing the brand’s identity. Crumb’s underground comic’s philosophy fits in nicely with ALRIGHTOK’s branding which makes this Truckin’ T-shirt exceptionally awesome. I’ve only recently come to discover AOK but can tell you that — based on this tee and others — you’ll be hearing a lot more about them. Tags:alrightok, keep on truckin', letter, slogan. Futura has always been one of my favorite typefaces (of all time). I also happen to like circles. So this “O” from Futura Light T-shirt created by MyFonts.com is extra appealing to me. My problem is that I’m not sure it’s available. It was created as part of a promotional series to be handed out at TypeCon in Buffalo, NY earlier this year. Due to a shipping snafu, it didn’t arrive until after the conference had ended. I am not sure what has become of this tee (or the other tees in the set…all of which are impressively handsome) but I’m hoping to get my hands on at least one at some point. Thanks to Johno over at ILoveTypography for bringing this to my attention via his latest blogpost. Tags:futura, geometric, letter, my fonts, paul renner. With all of the great typefaces that House Industries creates, it’s pretty much a given that any T-shirt sporting them will find a place on this blog. Case in point: House’s Neutra Slab gets its own Neutra Slab T-shirt. It’s the alphabet, plain and simple…there for the appreciation of type lovers everywhere. I can’t think of a tee that better fits the definition of a type tee: it’s a type T-shirt about type. What’s not to love? Tags:house industries, letter, neutra slab. Categories:typography |
