FOUND is a playful reference to LOST — note the type treatment. The new season starts in a few days but, if you’re a LOST fan, that news is bittersweet with the knowledge that this season will be its last. Perhaps this shirt by BustedTees will console fans of the show once it’s finally ended. Either way, it’s available for $20.

SkyNet is another brilliant mash-up…this time between fiction (The Terminator) and reality (Google). Available for $16.99 from BustedTees.

This shirt by BustedTees is actually just called Einstein but I titled this post Einstein KISS for obvious reasons. Einstein rocks. KISS rocks. And the $16.99 price rocks.

I apologize for the quality of this photo; I prefer closer shots of T-shirts and just scaled this one up. I hate doing that; it’s a “no-no” when it comes to design…but this is a blog about T-shirts and I’m running it…so I’m breaking the rule because I can. But enough about that. This satirical gem is another beauty by someecards and is available for purchase at BustedTees. The illustration shows a beautiful landscape (the beauty is implied) and the copy reads, Let’s ruin something with advertising. This is equal parts funny and sad. It’s funny because that’s the direction our culture has been going in for quite some time and it’s sad for the very same reason. I’ve actually been considering placing ads on this blog even though I was completely against the idea when I started it. I don’t have anything against advertising in and of itself, of course — in fact, a lot of what I do as a designer is in the realm of advertising — I was just against the idea of advertising on this blog. I liked the idea of it being an ad-free zone. [Forget about the fact that each blog post is an endorsement of sorts, thereby qualifying it as advertising...free advertising, but advertising all the same.] This blog is far from a beautiful landscape so I doubt advertising would ruin it, but there’s really only one way to find out. I’d like to know what my readers think (…the few of you that are still with me since I switched domains a while back). Leave me a comment on this post and let me know if you think placing ads on ATshirtBlog.com is a good idea or a bad one. If you think it’s a good idea, tell me why. If you think it’s a bad idea, send me money. There’s a donate button in the column on the left. As of right now, I’m still unsure about the whole thing. But when I see a tee that I like telling me, “Let’s ruin something with advertising,” I’m thinking maybe it’s a sign. What do you think?

Facebook: Where Everybody Knows Your Name. It’s a great slogan for the website, actually. This comes from BustedTees but, unlike a lot of their other T-shirts, this one is more of a mash-up than a parody; it can be both, of course. I just find it more clever than funny. If the type treatment didn’t immediately recall [in your mind] watching episodes of Cheers, then the slogan surely must have. It’s part of the show’s theme song — unquestionably, one of the best theme songs ever. If you still didn’t get the reference, then I can only assume that you’ve never watched Cheers…in which case: you should really get to it. Facebook is a fascinating social media phenomenon; if you use it and enjoy reading this blog, please consider becoming a fan. [The page is bare for now, but I promise to garden it! It will be a good way to find out about this and other collective projects. Thanks in advance!] In any case, it’s the Cheers reference and typography of this Facebook T-shirt that really reels me in.

BustedTees bring us a series of official Vimeo T-shirts. [That's a lot of links for one sentence, I know.] My favorite of the series is this Vimeo Flag T-shirt; I just love the colors. Vimeo is a “thriving community of people who love to make and share video,” so if you’re not familiar with it yet, definitely check it out. And maybe make a video of yourself rocking the Vimeo Flag and upload it to Vimeo…just because you can.

LOST fans will get this reference right away. Everyone else will not…and that’s ok. With LOST being the kind of show it is, there’s no way I can give this T-shirt context without potentially spoiling something for those who haven’t seen it yet. So I’ll just say this: the type treatment is the same used in the title sequence of the show. If you like/love the show, you’ll probably like/love this T-shirt. The show itself is something of a phenomenon; if you’re not watching it yet, I highly recommend that you do. I can understand the reluctance to throw yourself into a show that already has such a strong core fan-base, but if you do, it’s important to start from the beginning. Since the latest season just ended, you have until next year to catch up. Hardcore fans: perhaps this T-shirt will spark some interest in the uninitiated. I don’t think I’m ruining anything by saying that Desmond is My Constant favorite…and that I’m glad that BustedTees had the foresight to make this T-shirt. Well done.

Every now and then I come across a T-shirt that is indisputably awesome. This is one of those T-shirts. You can’t really argue with: Pizza is the Best. Even if you didn’t like pizza (which would force me to re-evaluate our relationship,) you’d have to respect the enthusiasm and conviction of a pizza-lover wearing this tee. Cooper Black — always a favorite — is looking good in red and golden yellow on this creme tee. And unlike on other T-shirts, tomato sauce and oil stains are welcome on this tee…to be worn like badges of honor. This BustedTees joint speaks the truth: Pizza is the Best.

Secret societies rarely have their own T-shirts (I would assume)…but not so with the Stonecutters. The organization that pulls all the strings in The Simpsons’ world has a pretty sweet logo…and now that logo is on a T-shirt thanks to BustedTees. The Illuminati, Freemasons, and other societies – secret or otherwise – don’t have anything on the Stonecutters. If you’d like to learn more about the Stonecutters, you can listen to their very entertaining and very informative theme song on YouTube…complete with visual aids. You probably shouldn’t sing along unless you’re wearing the proper ceremonial garb (although I’m sure your own Stonecutters tee would suffice).
