Your Blog Sucks
Generally, I stay away from tees that make negative statements directed at an individual or group of individuals — with some perfectly reasonable exceptions, of course. But Headline Shirts made this Your Blog Sucks T-shirt too humorous for me to pass up. As a blogger, I’m sensitive to the plight of other bloggers but I’m also aware of a blight of terrible bloggers (ahhhh, see what I did there? With the rhyming? And the phrasing? You should reward me for my cleverness by telling your friends that my blog doesn’t suck. Unless you think it does. In which case, you might like the T-shirt featured in this post. But I digress…) I’m no expert on blogging [clearly] so far be it from me to point fingers. I do, however, find the visual framing of the statement, Your Blog Sucks, rather amusing. It all boils down to unexpected context, which can be very, very funny…much like the T-shirt I posted yesterday.

Micah, your blog does not suck. I wish I could come up with a clever rhyming way to say that (a la your very clever “plight/blight” construction). You know, how teenagers might take a statement like “Springfield High School rules!” and twist it around into “Springfield High School drools!” I’d like to do the same with “your blog sucks” — twist it with a rhyme to become a compliment to you and your fine blog. Unfortunately, I can’t find any words that rhyme with “sucks” but that mean the opposite…

…you can see the dilemma.
Maybe I should just go with: “Your blog (not) sucks”… the “not” is silent, but its meaning is intact.
So, Micah, I say this: Your blog (not) sucks.
